President’s Message: March 2019
Spring has arrived and the warmer weather has Peninsula members getting out their shedding blades, and dusting off their horses! Some of the members jumped right into spring, and participated in the Kathy Rowse (S) clinic at Horse Bridge Farm. It was a wonderful clinic and we are always appreciative of Kathy coming here to the Eastern Shore to teach us! There were 13 riders, some eventers, some straight dressage, and a western dressage rider. Kathy is an awesome teacher with a super eye, and she had all the riders and horses working well together. It is always amazing to watch the transformation! We all have homework to do, but what a great way to start the show season! Thanks to Kathy and her husband, Mike, for traveling up here for us, and to PVDA for subsidizing this clinic.
Our next meeting will be April 4 at Horse Bridge Farm, starting at 6 pm. We will be talking about the geometry of the new tests and walking it out in the ring. We will also be marking some of the arena footing to show the exact shape and size of circles and other movements in the tests. So, come on out and we can look at the test you are riding!
Coming up soon is the Ride-a-Test at Cat Dorcak's Big Red Farm, near Salisbury, on April 20. Look for the entry forms in your email and on the website! We are happy to have Jackie Kinney judge this for us! Do not forget to have your Coggins drawn and updated, as well as your memberships. It is never too early to get all that squared away, show season is quickly approaching! Enjoy the warm days, and I look forward to seeing you all soon!
