President’s Message: May 2019
Peninsula Dressage members held the first show of the year on May 4, 2019 at Wicomico Equestrian Center in Salisbury. We had a great turnout for our first show, and the horses were all looking wonderful with their beautiful spring coats! We welcomed our judge - Janice Conlon “R” for her first time judging for us. Her expertise and encouraging comments were very much appreciated, and we are hoping to have her back as much as possible!
I would like to thank Brenda Burkett for putting a lot of time into organizing and managing the show, it went off without a hitch! Special thanks to all the volunteers who came out to help-especially: Amie, Carol, and Charlotte who worked all day! Thanks to Brooke Baker for doing a great job scribing all day for Janice! Overall, a great day and a great way to start out the year!
Our June show is coming up quickly, and Allison has emailed that entry out. Therefore, if you missed it please let one of us know, and we will get you the entry! This show will be June 8, 2019 at Renaissance Farm in Salisbury. Jenny Mlyniec is the manager and our judge is Robyn Nunnally “L” from Virginia. She also has a Western Dressage rating! The setup is to be followed by a short June meeting on Friday night before the show at Renaissance, starting at 6. We look forward to seeing everyone in June and our other events this summer!
Happy Riding! Kim Briele
PENINSULA DRESSAGE MEETING MINUTES 5-2-19 13 MEMBERS/GUESTS PRESENT
Brief meeting followed show ring set up.
Our first show of the year is this Saturday 5-4-19 at the Wicomico Equestrian Center. The Judge is Janice Conlon (R). We do still need some volunteers to help with scoring and running. We did discuss arrangements for food and water to be available in the show office.
It was determined that Allison has the volunteer book and that Amie will create new pages to go in the book.
Peninsula Dressage Chapter of PVDA
Who has the Yellow Peninsula Dressage Flag? It is attached to a pole and rolls up nicely. It has not been seen since approximately 2016. Any thoughts on where this could be?
The June meeting will be a show ring set up night on Friday 6-7-19 at Renaissance Stable. Please note this is a Friday not the usual Thursday. Be sure to come out to get your volunteer hours.
The June show is Saturday 6-8-19 at Renaissance Stable. The Judge is Robyn Nunnally and the show manager is Jenny Mlyniec. Entry forms should be emailed soon. Jenny still needs volunteers to scribe, score and run.
Respectfully submitted, Amie Blackwell
Year-end Award Qualification Rules
To qualify for a Peninsula Dressage year-end award (Peninsula Division or Open Division), you must first be a member of Peninsula Dressage and PVDA, and give 10 hours of volunteer time to Peninsula during the year. Your top five scores at the same level from three shows and three judges will be used to calculate your final average for your level, except for Sport Horse and Second Level & Up, which only require three scores from three shows and three judges. For the Peninsula Division you may use only Peninsula schooling shows (including Women Supporting Women), and for the Open Division you may use any dressage shows (schooling or recognized) except Peninsula schooling shows. You may use scores from the Women Supporting Women show for either division. Peninsula Division scores will be calculated for you, but you must submit Open Division scores yourself by the first week in November to qualify for the Open Division. If you have any questions, please contact Allison at twostars8688@gmail.com, or 410-726-8199.
